Today, the "International in-depth seminar on earthquake-resistant construction" began its work at the Institute of Mechanics and Seismic Resistance of Structures of the Academy of Sciences. The seminar is dedicated to studying the problems of earthquake-resistant construction and engineering seismology, with the main goal of creating an experimental platform for exchanging opinions between strong world experts and scientists conducting research on earthquake-resistant construction and seismic activity in our region.

The main task of this seminar is to expand and develop cooperation between experts from foreign countries, as well as to form new research projects, develop a roadmap and recommendations for future research. This event creates a great opportunity for meaningful discussions, the emergence of new initiatives, and the development of innovative solutions for reducing seismic hazard and mitigating the negative consequences of earthquakes. The scientific organizers of the seminar are the Institute of Mechanics and Seismic Resistance of Structures of the Academy of Sciences and the University of California, Berkeley.
The seminar is held in the following thematic areas:
- Earthquake-resistant construction (theory and practice).
- Engineering Seismology and Seismic Risk.
- Strength and stability of building materials.
- Operational examination and continuous monitoring of the condition of buildings and structures.

The seminar is planned to be attended by specialists, researchers, and young specialists in the field of construction from Central Asian countries, as well as the People's Republic of China, the United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Belarus. The event is held in a hybrid format - participants take part in offline and online formats. The seminar is held with the financial support of the World Bank's Munis project.
